Motorola: H15 and H780 headsets

Motorola introduces a pair of noise-cancelling headsets. The H15 and H780 headsets.

The H15 (at the right) boasts Motorola exclusive flip design, which is a new way of saving battery life if you’re constantly on the blower. RapidConnect – which does exactly what it says on the tin – lets you answer calls immediately by flipping the headset open, and closing it again will curtail the battery drain.

To keep everything clear, the H15 employs a pair of microphones, located in the top and bottom of the device. An internal processor compares the two and isolates the sound of your voice from the background hum. And if those noise levels are fluctuating, when you cross a busy street for example, the volume automatically adjusts so you can still hear the other person. At least that way other people aren’t the only ones getting the benefit of your headset tech.

On the other hand, the H780 (as you can see at the left) is the cheaper option. It sports the same CrystalTalk sound enhancement. You don’t get any special power saving abilities, but because it doesn’t employ such a complex dual-microphone array it’s actually still good for seven hours of talk time. With its brushed aluminium finish, it’s also the looker of the two.

Each can also connect to multiple sources at the same time – handy if you want to answer VoIP calls on your computer at the same time as normal calls from your mobile.

Both headsets are due out in Q4, probably around October time. Prices are $129 for H15 and $99 for the H780.
