Applying A Password to the Guest account

The default for the guest password in XP Home and Pro is BLANK…there is no password for the guest user. If you want that your guest account will require password in order to log in. Then do the following steps below.

  1. Please log on to the computer with an Administrator account and turn
on the guest account. (if you don’t know how to turn the guest account on, here is a short guide.
  • Click the Start menu, look for Run…If you found it click it. (run window will appear)
  • in the empty field type NUSRMGR.CPL then hit enter. (user accounts window will appear.)
  • look for Guest. click it if you found it, after you click it it will ask you “Do you want to turn on the guest account?”, click Turn On the Guest Account button. Done.

  1. Click Start->Run->Type cmd and click OK.
  2. Input the following command and press Enter. Net user guest password
  3. Go to Control Panel->User Accounts. Click the Guest account and now you can change the password.

That’s it…it does work for I have done it many times.

I hope you find it useful. If you have some tweaks you can share it hear.
