Disabling Visual Effects for Speed

Have you ever wanted to speed up your Windows XP? This guide will enhance the performance of your computer. Don’t worry it’s 100% safe. You can restore your previous settings if you feel that you don’t like it. Disabling visual effects on your computer can save you system resources. Here’s how you can do it. Follow these simple steps:

1.     On your Desktop right click My Computer icon (if My Computer icon isn’t there,
click Start menu, you’ll find My computer in the right pane. Right click on it and choose Show on
Desktop, My Computer icon will now be displayed on your desktop).
After you right click,
choose
Properties . (System properties window  appears)

2.     On the tabs above, choose Advanced .

3.     Click Settings .

4.     Under Visual Effects tab. Click Custom , Uncheck all choices below
except the last 3 choices at the bottom of the list. Namely “Use common task
in folders”, “Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop”, “Use visual
styles in windows and buttons”. These settings will improve your computer’s
performance while still enjoying a nice GUI together with your favorite theme.

5.     After you have chosen your desired settings, click Apply . Click Ok , and click Ok .
