Though we are prompted to have the mind of Christ, we can not know the mind of God in all things...His ways are not our ways. Stephen saw heaven before he died. The scripture is simply saying that "we are willing to be absent from the body and present with the Lord". No explanation is needed for those who were there to know God has done what CAN NOT be done. Not getting stories of the "afterlife" does not diminish their faith nor does it take away from the miraculous. Obviously, through this, God is wanting to tell the story of His power, not what heaven is like, so He chose to only reveal the things needed to make His statement! Luke 16:22-31
