Yesterday, while I was listening to the music on my Sony Ericsson P990i. I wondered what is the lightest mobile phone in the world, does it exist? or it has not been invented yet. So I surfed the Internet and tried to look if it does really exist. And to my surprise, it really does, here it is. Introducing MODU, the world’s lightest phone ever made.
First of all, Modu is a tiny, sleek, sophisticated mobile phone. In fact, it’s the lightest phone in the world as approved by the Guinness book of world records.
You can use Modu to talk, SMS or listen to music stored on the built-in 1GB memory. Modu includes Bluetooth connectivity and can be used as a mass storage device.
Modu has all you would expect from a phone… but it is a lot more: Modu can be slipped into a wide variety of Modu jackets – stylishly designed phone enclosures – and Modu mates – Modu-enabled consumer electronics devices.
In the modern world, achieving the correct balance of size and features is critical. Sizes and features are constantly being designed and re-thought and Modu have now released the world’s lightest ever mobile phone handset . The Modu weighs in at no more than 40.1 grams and
will be released into the public market in the final quarter of 2008. The Modu is also incredibly intricate, measuring in at 72.1mm X 37.6mm X 7.8mm. What’s clever about the phone is that there are a number of add-ons available, which can be connected separately depending on what tasks you’re looking to do. For instance, if you’re heading out into the countryside and planning to take lots of pictures then you can simply attach the camera module and you’re good to go.

Mobile phones used to be assessed on how small they were, with phone companies competing against each other to create the smallest handset on the market. Mobile phone features used to take less precedence over the size of the phone, but as consumer needs evolved the phones evolved in parallel. Phones were now being crammed with as many features as possible, pushing both the size and weight of handsets back to a similar level when mobile phones first emerged onto the market.
The Modu also features Bluetooth technology, music playback and a 1GB memory module, which can transform the phone into a portable data device. As of yet, there is no price tag on the product – but one thing for certain is that it will be light enough to carry around with complete ease.
