Magpul FMG9

SHOTShow2008 MagPulGlockSubgun Closed 3 2 04 08 Magpul FMG9As to what you can see in the image. First you wouldn’t think it is a deadly weapon. Right? Later, you’ll know what i mean. That thing that man is holding at is a slick little MagPul FMG9 (or, FMG-9) a.k.a. "Glock in a Box" prototype folding 9mm Parabellum (9x19mm NATO ) mini / micro-submachine gun (SMG) that utilizes a Glock 17 slide and any factory Glock 9mm magazine, including 30-33-round Glock 18 mags. "FMG" would seem to stand for "Folding Machine Gun".

2 thumb Magpul FMG9 3 thumb Magpul FMG9 In it’s closed position, while you’re carrying it around, the MagPul FMG9 is designed to look something like a portable radio, and incorporates a detachable tactical white light. The FMG9 mini-SMG is very slickly designed and looks like a fully-developed product.

The MagPul FMG 9 9mm subgun essentially shows in microcosm all of MagPul’s creativity and product design and development strengths (including ergonomics and "usernomics")–and, yes, perhaps even a desire to entertain–in one little lethal foldable SMG package. No matter how one feels about mini-subguns or micro-subguns, one must acknowledge the rapid-design & development skill the FMG9 showcases. You really have to see the FMG9 folding/foldable subgun being opened, closed, and handled to fully appreciate it.

ahm yeah it’s quite interesting at first look. Me, just thought its a hi-tech flash light, but when i continue reading, i was shocked it was a folding machine gun. cool eh?

Another very nice, well thought out weapon from Magpul. As with their Masada assault rifle, the FMG9 is an innovative weapon that not only fills a specific need but also get high marks simply for being very cool! I could see the FMG9 being very useful for operators that need to be discreetly armed, including, maybe especially, personal security details (bodyguards). A fully functional submachine gun that appears to the general public to be little more than powerful flashlight, and is small enough to fit into to the cargo pocket on your jacket/vest/pants would be extremely useful for anyone with a need to be armed with something more than a simple pistol, but can’t look as though they are carrying a weapon. The MP5K-PDW, MP7, & Micro Uzi are about to have some serious competition.

    Hi there gunslinger,

Thanks for the lengthy comment. I can see that you’re a big fan about Israel’s weapons. They have some cool new weapons, have you heard about their Tavor?

I have. Always a fan of a well thought out bullpup, I especially like the interconnection between the weapon’s safety and the optic. Flip the safety to the “fire” position and the red-dot comes on automatically. It can’t get any easier than that. Something the Israelis really know how to do is design & build really good guns.

Yeah, I agree. Israelis are really fantastic and amazing people. Most technology that we use today are discovered and invented by the Israelis. I have seen future weapons, their newest tank is really amazing.

I agree, and it disgusts me the way our government is treating them right now. Every time Israel has given up control of a section of land to the Palestinians it has been used against them, but none of the talking idiots from the Major Media bothered to report that the reason Israel invaded Gaza was because it was being used to launch missile attacks against Israeli civilians! I am pro-Israel all the way.

I also agree about their Merkava Mk.IV main battle tank. It’s a bit heavy, but crew survivability is unmatched, and it can carry infantry guys into battle. The front mounted engine and especially the rear escape hatch are winners in my book. The Merkava is the only tank I’d feel safer in than an Abrams; it’s almost as effective on the battlefield and nowhere near as thirsty!

I’d bet that a few FMG9′s would inside one right nicely!

hahaha. yeah. They’re just jealous about Israel, the land, the people, the inventions. All that’s in there.

I’m really amazed with the Israelis, mostly their IDF, their top notch fighter pilots, their strategy in war. Amazing people, because they have an AMAZING GOD.

FMG9 looks like a great weapon, simple, light, easy to use and has the ability to use a larger mag., if of course the situation calls for it. As for the Tank comment I have not seen Israels’ newest design but I rode in an Abrams and I am sticking with it for coming home alive factors. Would like to see some of this FMG9 in action on a target, at range and up close. Please direct me to any video you may know of.
